How to speed up rendering time of Sony Magix Vegas Pro. Lower Down Bit Rate. Close Applications. Leave Computer Alone. Set Priority Option to High.
Enable GPU Acceleration. Reduce Video Quality in Preview. Choose Proper Video Codec Type. How do I speed up video rendering? Enable Multi-Frame Rendering. Turn on Cache Frames When Idle. Use GPU Acceleration. Upgrade Your Graphics Card. Use Solid-State Drives. Clean up Compositions. Be Selective with Effects. Why is my Sony Vegas so slow? Standard Definition video is up to six times smaller in file size compared to Full p HD video. As has been reiterated before, Sony Vegas 13 has no support for the newer NVidia cards.
This is not a rumor. I have experienced this myself I have a GTX and has also been amply documented. When trying to enable GPU support, Vegas simplies says that there is no supported card available. There is a request for Magix to add GPU support for these newer cards.
Unfortunately, I need an NVidia card for certain other software, so I’m stuck. I haven’t upgraded to Vegas 14 yet as there were some reports it’s actually slower than The Vegas video engine effects, compositing is supported via OpenCL. The video engine is used at all time. Playback and “render as”. Once I saw that the guy who has a GTX , was having a render time with GPU acceleration enabled and without it of course with the same footage and render settings.
Does it mean that nVidia cards doesn’t make any difference at all with GPU acceleration? I’m just trying to make sense out of it : assuming he’s telling the truth about the render time results, which I can’t confirm unfortunately. I’m not getting it why people spent so much time and effort to win a few seconds rendertime. In the old times a few years back I was used to render overnight and was happy the next morning rendering was almost ready.
I did a few test before upgrading to RX from R9 both 4Gb DDR5, Vegas Pro 13 showed me exact same performance in rendering time 0 gains there, but playback was a little smoother with RX for sure, third party plugins like Titler pro 4, NewBlue effects benefits more from my upgrade than Vegas pro itself. Norman, I’d love to know what the missing bit of that says! This is very anecdotal. Nothing rigorous. The second item is the GPU option in the “render as” templates which controls the file encoder.
That has closed up quite a bit recently in the drivers. The promise of OpenCL is that you can write generic code and it works everywhere. This is true but maybe not optimal. To get max performance you still probably have to tweak CL code for specific architectures.
That is probably why Mainconcept AVC is the way it is. Targeted to specific architectures and it has never been kept up to date for newer stuff, nor does it have “generic” to run on just anything. The Luxmark benchamrk is one where you can see performance tweaks. Luxmark is an often quoted OpenCL benchmark. Well, supposedly Nvidia informed the developer of some things where were not doing optimally. Those things made Nvidia underperform on that benchmark.
That would be Luxmark 3. Luxmark 3. You cannot compare 3. All that makes me wonder if Vegas is just not as optimal on Nvidia, like Luxmark used to be. I do not remember this when I had AMD. Pure Vegas effects roll quite well. Work with a wide range of formats.

I have checked to make sure my Graphics Card is updated to the latest version I have tried following tutorials on basically how to make Sony Vegas include the GPU for rendering the videos. These are just two of the other videos that I have watched and have got me no where. I’m pretty sure that’s all the info you need to know about my computer and the software version: SVP13 – Version Jul 3, 33 0 10, Can someone please help me with this problem.

As of driver version Supposedly they wanted to promote their NVEnc ShadowPlay that is only available on the series and newer. Dropping DLL files into folders does not work. Cards this old will seldom benefit from the latest drivers anyway.

The term “legacy” is used because the code was optimized for the GPUs that were available when it was written, a number of years ago.
The code is not optimized for currently-available graphics cards. The GeForce Users have successfully used The official information from the Support team is that the GeForce They are still available on eBay etc..
If your PC case is large enough, you could fit one alongside an AMD card that is better for OpenCL acceleration of video processing and combine the benefits of both. Note that you can still select “Render using OpenCL if available” even with later cards that support OpenCL, but doing so will probably make your render slower.

The best bet would to choose cards not on price. GPU encode is a passe mode of operation from 6 years ago. I disagree. Granted, at bitrates below 10Mbps there are better codes.
I have AMDFirePro V because I need four monitors and it’s been working for me just fine for months or is it over a year or two by now? Shouldn’t be there more info about which why GFX works well or not? Because some older models uses old architect in Quadro’s i saw on wiki, i think that would make more sense and shorter explained wich card would work or not for GPU acceleration for new users for now, instead to specify and get discussions about model numbers.
SphinxRa40 have you read all of Nick’s post and all the links? This topic has been discussed since VP11 came out and Nick has summed it up perfectly. I do however see that Nick left out the Radeon Fury X which I can highly recommend from my own experience. I have added it. Unless you’re keeping a close eye on things, the range can be confusing and I know others like yourself are more on top of this than I am.
Also, any comparative test figures? More details can be found here. Only the upcoming series will have an updated HBM2 with increases memories, clocks and band width surpassing the Fury X. It may or may not or may again only be available in the higher end cards like the current Fury X. I haven’t seen any reports with regards to the Vegas architecture and their model designation.
AMD has started a high end segment with the launch of the Fury series. All these new developments however are very much targeted for the gamers market and not necessary are better for NLEs. I decided on the Fury X because of the rather high band width, number of shaders and compute units. This might help. I created a chart from the Wiki pages, and combined info from other places like Techpowerup.
FijiXT is still the current power in the waters even after 18 months past its release date. GPUs like the RX are geared more towards other features and energy saving, but do not have the compute performance of the Fury-x. Thanks Nick for these detailed instructions and thoughts! And I would like to share that this works like a charm: 3 displays plugged into the GeForce card for all software application windows, but GPU acceleration within Vegas 14 redirected to the Radeon Works stable and seems to be really fast no benchmark tests, though, just my impression.
So I can encourage everyone to test configurations like that based on the FAQ article – I never imagined this might work, but it does. This has been very helpful. However, I am mostly working on a laptop and looking for gpu with equivalent power as the ones mentioned above. I have a hard time looking for laptops with amd gpus and would like to seek for advice if the r9 m for mobile would be good for fluid playback considering no effects and also how about the radeon rx that asus has.
Very bigger pixel distorsion when plays the final render with defaults parameters. Exemple: if use noise default effect and them any video, the disaster appers. Not recomend. I am having the same problem as yours, with the same card. Do you have a 2GB version? Yes I believe it’s 2GB. Though I believe it’s a developer’s job to handle the GPU’s memory appropriately.
My friend who uses Premiere renders faster on his mid-range laptop than me on an i7 CPU with a 4k graphics card. Are you sure you want to report this comment post user as questionable?
